Cat TV: a window seat your cat will actually use.
Indoor cats spend a lot of their day looking out. Cat TV just makes that view better: a comfortable seat at the glass, and something worth watching on the other side.
Why it works
Watching birds engages a cat's hunting instincts without anyone getting hurt. The glass keeps everyone apart. Keeping cats indoors is also one of the most effective things owners can do to protect wildlife, and Cat TV makes indoor life more interesting.
Pick the right window
- Smooth, flat glass with no tint film, frosting or texture.
- A view of a tree, shrub or bit of garden, where birds already pass.
- A spot your cat already likes. Sunny windows win.
Fit the perch safely
- Clean the inside of the glass, warm the cups, and press each one firmly.
- Test the perch with your hand, pressing down hard, before your cat uses it.
- Supervise the first few sessions and check the cups weekly.
Add the feeder outside
Fix a window feeder to the outside of the same pane, roughly at your cat's eye level when it's on the perch. The Cat Window Kit includes both.
Settling in
Birds may be wary for a few days. Most learn quickly that an indoor cat behind glass can't reach them. If your cat gets frustrated, chattering constantly or pawing at the glass, keep sessions short and follow them with play so it gets to “catch” something.
