Not every bird will come to the glass. A hanging feeder on a branch you can see from inside, and a bird bath with moving water, widen the range of visitors and give shy species somewhere to start.
Squirrel-resistant, honestly
Our hanging feeder has a metal cage around the seed tube. Small birds slip through; pigeons, big parrots and squirrels find it harder going. No feeder stops every squirrel, so placement matters as much as design: hang it at least 3 m from fences, roofs and branches they can leap from.
Why moving water works
Birds notice the sparkle and sound of moving water from a distance. A floating solar fountain turns a still bath into a fountain whenever the sun is on it, with no wiring. Keep the water shallow (2.5–5 cm), change it every few days, and scrub the bath weekly.

What's the best place for a bird bath?
Somewhere open enough that birds can watch for cats, with a shrub or tree a couple of metres away to retreat to. For a solar fountain, it also needs direct sun.
Is the hanging feeder squirrel-resistant or will it stop all squirrels?
It's squirrel-resistant: the cage makes it harder for squirrels, not impossible. Placement away from launch points helps most.
